Square Wedding Centerpiece Tutorial
What You Will Need:
- Floral Wire from Dollar Tree
- Paper Straws from Dollar Tree
- Gold Paint From Amazon
- 3 x Flower Bushes from Dollar Tree (Optional)
- 3 Acrylic Teardrop Crystal Strands from Amazon (Optional)
- Hot Glue Gun from Amazon
- Wire Cutters from Amazon
- Scissors from Amazon
- Water with Ice
Note:
I did not give an exact measurement of how much floral wire I used. I took into account that not all straw lengths are the same, so I based the length on how many straws were needed for each step.
These straws were used in my previous DIY for a Geometric Wedding Flower Centerpiece. They were blue and pink when I purchased the straws then I spray painted them. Rather than wasting the straws, I decided to reuse them for this project. ?

Step 1: Create the Square Wedding Centerpiece Stand

Unravel floral wire and thread 4 straws together.

Cut the wire and tie the ends together to complete the square.
Step 2: Three-Sided Squares

Thread 3 straws together.

Measure 1 straw at one end plus a couple inches.

Cut the wire. Repeat this step to create two three-sided squares.
Click HERE to see how I create the three-sided squares.
Step 3: Assemble The Cube

You should have all these pieces ready to create the Square Wedding Centerpiece:
- Two Three-sided Squares
- Square
- Two Straws

Working your way left to right.

Connect the three-sided square by threading the wire through the right side of the square.

Knot the ends together. Do this a couple of times to secure them in place then trim off excess wire.
Repeat this step with the last three-sided square.

You should have three squares in a row.

Take your two straws.

And unravel about three straw lengths plus a few inches of floral wire.

Thread the wire through the right side of the square.
Place one straw on each end.

It should look something like this.

Now, tie the ends together to complete the cube. Repeat on the opposite side.

The cube is not very stable at this point. But once we glue the edges, it will hold its shape.
Step 4: Hot Glue Edges for DIY Wedding Centerpiece

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE BE CAREFUL DURING THE FOLLOWING STEPS!!
This next step requires molding hot glue. Proceed with caution.
If you would like to skip this step, you can use duct tape and paint over it. However, be aware that hot glue keeps the centerpiece sturdy and helps to hold its shape.
Please follow the instructions below to prevent burns.
Key things to remember is to work quickly and to always keep your finger damp with ice-cold water while molding the hot glue.
Click HERE to see how I glue the edges.

Apply hot glue where the straw ends meet.

Immerse your finger with ICE COLD WATER.

And mold the glue to create an edge. Repeat on all edges.
Step 5: Paint The Cube

Paint the cube and allow the paint to dry completely before moving onto the next step.

Step 6: Let’s Decorate! Add Flowers to Wedding Centerpiece

Now that you have completed the cube. Let’s decorate! You can decorate this centerpiece however you like to match your wedding or party decor.
Trim the flower heads and leaves from their stems. I decided to separate the stem from the flower heads to allow me to place the greenery wherever I pleased.

Decorate with flowers and leaves by applying hot glue and holding in place for 30 seconds.

I trimmed some Gold Curly Ting that I bought from Michaels and tucked them in between the flowers and leaves. You can use hot glue to secure them in place.

Hang some crystal garland across the front of the centerpiece to add a little more glam.

This is amazing! Thank you for sharing this idea! Trying to decide if this is all I need, or should add a candle too. When used as a wedding centerpieces have you seen anyone put a candle in the middle, or a few off to the sides?
I have not seen anyone use candles in the center; however, I think it would be a beautiful addition. 🙂 Even a few off the sides would look Stunning. I would use clear vases to ensure the candles do not burn the stand. I would love to see how it turns out for you!
