Paint Paper Straws

Take 12 paper straws and cover completely with spray paint. Allow paint to dry before use.
Constructing The Hexagon Ring

Unravel about 5 ft of floral wire. Take 6 straws and thread them together.

Mold the ring into a hexagon shape then trim the wire to the desired length.

Now secure the ends by tying them together into a knot.

Please be careful during the following steps!
This next step requires molding hot glue. Proceed with caution.
If you would like to skip this step, you can use duct tape and paint over it. However, be aware that hot glue makes the ring more sturdy and keeps the hexagon shape in place.
Please follow the instructions below to prevent burns.
Key things to remember is to work quickly and to always keep your finger damp with ice cold water while molding the hot glue.
Apply hot glue where the straw ends meet.

Immerse your finger with ICE COLD WATER.

And mold the glue to create an edge.

Your edge should appear similar to this.

Repeat on remaining 5 edges.
You can keep your beautiful hexagon ring as is or you can take it a step further and add a little more decor.

**Optional Step**

Cut a strip of diamond adhesive and wrap it around the edge of the hexagon.

Repeat on the remaining 5 edges.

Creating Mr./Mrs. Sign

Measure the length and height of the ring onto the foam board.

Cut out the section of the foam board with a box cutter.

Sketch out what you would like to write. Make sure the word length matches the length of your foam board.

Place the cutting board behind the foam board. Cut out the sign using the box cutter.
I noticed using the cutting board help to make a cleaner and smoother cut.

Carefully remove the sign from the foam board.

Designing the Sign
Apply paint then set aside to dry.

Take a sheet of adhesive diamond.

Cut into single rows and fill in the sign completely.

It was easier to fill the sign in when I used one row of diamond adhesive rather than trying to use rows of two or three.

Attach Sign to Hexagon Ring
Turn the sign over and place the hexagon ring on top.

Apply hot glue over and around where the ring touches the sign.

That’s it! You’re done creating your Mr and Mrs Sign!
