Welcome your new bundle of joy to the world by making this simple and affordable baby announcement chalkboard sign made with mostly Dollar Tree items. A beautiful alternative from your typical letter announcement board. This post is all about how to create a beautiful DIY baby announcement chalkboard sign in just 4 easy steps.

This sign is an updated version of my previous DIY baby announcement sign. It was such a hit among our friends, another mom-to-be asked if I could make one for her.
So, I decided to recreate the sign with crystals to bring an elegant touch.
This sign also comes with a matching chandelier! Perfect for any place in your home.

You can use this board over and over again. All you need to do is clean the board with some water and a washcloth, let it dry and write something new.

DIY Baby Announcement Chalkboard Sign Tutorial
What You Will Need:
- 4 x flower bushes from Dollar Tree
- Chalkboard Sign from Dollar Tree
- Picture Frame 5x7inch from Dollar Tree
- 3 x Gold Floral Wire from Dollar Tree:
- Acrylic Crystal Beads from AmazonÂ
- Chalkboard Marker from AmazonÂ
- Pencils(Amazon)
- Wire Cutters(Amazon)
- Scissors (Amazon)
- Hot Glue Gun (Amazon)
Step 1: Braid the Wire for Welcome Baby Chalkboard Sign
First, unravel three floral wires.
Take the floral wire tie, gather the wires, and bound them together.

Braid the wire by taking one of the outer wires and crossing it over with the center wire. Repeat on the opposite side.
This could also be done on the ground to help hold the braid together if you are not familiar with doing a braid by hand.
Click here to see how I braid the wires by hand and on the ground.
Once you have finished the braid, secure it by taking one end of a wire and wrapping it around the other two wires.

Adjust the braid to make it symmetrical all the way through. This wire is very forgiving, so do not be afraid to loosen, pull, or widen where it is needed.
Measure the ring around the chalkboard and trim to your desired length.

Again, secure the ends by taking one end of a wire and wrapping it around the other two wires.
Knot the two braided ends together. Then, apply some glue to keep it in place.

Step 2: Add Flowers and Acrylic Garland to Braided Wire
Remove flowers and leaves from bushes.

Attach flowers and leaves by applying some glue to the stem and placing it in between a groove.

Be careful! The glue will be hot! Apply more glue onto the backside to keep the wire and flower/leaf in place.

Hide where the wires connect by placing flowers and leaves.

Decorate with as many leaves and flowers as you like!

Take the Acrylic Crystal Garland, apply some glue to one end, and slide it in between a groove.

Be careful! The glue will be hot! Apply more glue onto the backside, where the wire and crystal end meets. Try to keep the ends of the crystal garland hidden behind a flower or leaf.
Intertwine the acrylic garland by threading it through the braided wire.
Glue the end by sliding it between a groove and applying more glue onto the backside to keep it in place.

Step 3: Attach the Easel Back and Design Your Chalkboard Sign
Remove the easel back from the photo frame and glue it onto the backside of the chalkboard.

Remove folding easel.

Using a pencil, draft out what you would like on the chalkboard.

Made a mistake? Easy fix! Simply just erase and try again.
Take the chalkboard marker and trace your penciled letters. Allow the letters to dry completely.

Step 4: Attach Chalkboard Sign onto Braided Floral Ring
Note: You may notice in this step, there is no easel back. I forgot to attach one to this sign. Because of the texture of the chalkboard, the hot glue would not set properly. For me, the hot glue has a stronger bond with the easel back between the chalkboard and wire.
Take some leftover wire and glue it onto the back of the chalkboard.
Allow the glue to dry completely then repeat on the opposite side.

I have circled the areas where I glued the board and wires together. Please refer to the image below.

Attach the sign to the flower wreath by taking one corner and looping it in and over to create a ribbon hook. Repeat on all corners.

That’s it! You’re all done with your Baby Announcement Chalkboard Sign!
